You could lose a lot more than nine minutes watching this one on repeat.
In 13 days, season 10 of The X-Files makes its debut — and while fans will recognize 10 and 13 as significant numbers in the world of the show, you don’t have to have been watching since 1993 to pick up on the significance of this: Fox has released the first minute of the series’ return.
“My name is Fox Mulder,” begins David Duchovny’s former FBI agent in a voiceover. The voiceover is just one familiar element found in the opening, which features shout-outs to old monsters, old badges, and Mulder’s search for his sister — along with a certain partner.
“In 1993, the FBI sought to impugn my work, bringing in a scientist and medical doctor to debunk it,” Mulder says of Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully, who went on to defy those orders.
The opening minute can be found at www.doyoustillbelieve.com, where fans can also create custom X-Files-themed profile photos to show the world that, like Mulder, their “personal obsession” has not ceased.
The X-Files returns Jan. 24 on Fox.
