The Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to see Civil War break out in theaters, but the stage is already being set for an Infinity War. And one of the heroes from Marvel’s expanding television universe admits joining the ultimate superhero battle, set for 2018, would be “a dream.”
Daredevil star Charlie Cox told Entertainment Tonight that he’d love to be the actor to bring the character back to the movies. (Ben Affleck rather infamously portrayed the character in the pre-MCU 2003 film.) “But it’s not something that has been discussed with me at this point,” he said.
“I have no idea [how the universe will come together],” Cox continued, explaining that “Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things. So even if the character was to appear in that film, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I would appear in that film.”
Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently teased that the film will unite the Marvel universe, and that fans “will not be disappointed in the number of characters that appear in the movie” — but the heroes of Marvel’s Netflix series have not been confirmed among the movie’s roster. Cox’s worst case scenario might be if the superhero were to be included — but with a different actor. “I will pick a fight with the guy that they choose,” he joked.
Whether Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the other members of the Marvel/Neflix series appear in the two-part film, Daredevil will be part of a team-up of his own when he, Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist come together in the planned Netflix The Defenders series.
