Star Wars: Rogue One costumes on display at Nuremberg Toy Fair

(Jonathan Olley/Lucasfilm)

We’ve already glimpsed them on the actors in the image above, but some of the full costumes from this December’s Star Wars stand-alone film Rogue One have been put on display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

There’s not much we can discern about character or the utilitarian uses of some of this gear, but here’s a chance to study some of the outfits and armor in a little more detail before more images are released for the Gareth Edwards-directed movie, which chronicles the Rebel efforts to steal the plans that eventually lead to the destruction of the first Death Star.

The four costumes being presented at the fair are worn by the characters played by Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, and Jiang Wen. We don’t yet know their names, although we do know that their timeline, set just before the events of the original 1977 Star Wars, allows them to cross paths with such vintage foes as Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin — both of whom are rumored to make an appearance in the movie, which hits theaters Dec. 16.

At this point, the specifics of the story are all guesswork. But these outfits give us a little more to think about — or at least admire.
