The Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa beef isn’t the only rap scuffle heating up. Martin Shkreli, the pharmaceutical investor who rose to infamy after he drastically raised the price of an AIDS drug, released a diss video against Ghostface Killah on Thursday. Shkreli was outed in December as the mystery purchaser of the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, but his purchase hasn’t sat well with everyone. Last week, Ghostface Killah (real name Dennis Coles) publicly called Shkreli a “sh–head” and made fun of his nose.
Shkreli responded on Thursday with a video message in which he refers to Ghostface Killah as “Dennis” (“I’m gonna call you by your government name”). Surrounded by hooded accomplices in masks reminiscent of the cover art of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), Shkreli taunted Ghostface Killah with a threat to remove his parts from the album.
“If you ever say some dumb sh– again, I’m gonna erase all your sh– from this album, I’m gonna erase you from the record books of rap,” Shkreli said. “You’re gonna be done. You’re my son, you have to listen to me. I butter your bread, you understand me?”
Shkreli concluded by demanding a written apology from Ghostface Killah, which means this story is probably far from over.
Shkreli was arrested on charges of securities fraud in December. At the time, the FBI made clear that they had not seized Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, which still leaves the album in Shkreli’s possession.
