Lady Gaga performed the national anthem at Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, kicking off the matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. The Grammy-winning singer and American Horror Story: Hotel star kept it simple with a traditional arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” drawing loud applause from the crowd.

Rocking a bright red suit, blue nails, and American flag-themed platform shoes, she brought major patriotism to Levi’s Stadium.

Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin joined Gaga to perform the anthem in American Sign Language.

Gaga is enjoying a big year: In addition to winning a Golden Globe for her turn in Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology, the singer is nominated for an Academy Award for best original song for “Til It Happens To You,” a collaboration with Diane Warren for The Hunting Ground.
