New extended trailer for The Angry Birds Movie features feathery destruction

A new full-length trailer for the upcoming animated comedy The Angry Birds Movie hits the web, giving fans an extended look at the upcoming feature adaptation of the popular smartphone game.

The film revolves around Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), an outcast amid a colony of flightless birds who must team up with his peers to stop an invasion of evil Green Piggies. Many facades from the game, including the stone fortresses occupied by the nefarious swine, make appearances in the trailer.

The Angry Birds Movie is directed by Clay Kaytis, who worked as an animator on films like Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph, and Fergal Reilly, who served as a storyboard artist on Hotel Transylvania and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. In addition to Sudeikis, the film’s voice cast includes Blake Shelton, Peter Dinklage, Kate McKinnon, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Josh Gad, and Danny McBride.

Since its release as an iOS game back in 2009, Angry Birds’ massive popularity has spawned an episodic series, a line of plush toys, and even a themed amusement park at Thorpe Park in the United Kingdom.

According to the clip, Columbia will release The Angry Birds Movie on May 13. To tide you over, check out the extended trailer above.
