Teenage Manchester musicians were participating in a hip-hop workshop sponsored by Reebok and local foundation Brighter Sounds when a special guest walked in: the hottest rapper in the game.

Kendrick Lamar surprised the group of 46 students on March 11, and proceeded to engage in a rap battle with the kids.

Lamar picked up the mic, spit some lines, and then ceded the attention to a student. After one rapped, Lamar called for him to “give me the motherf—ing mic back” and ripped the kid for being “f—ing shorter than me.” The line, uttered through Lamar’s grin, earned oohs from onlookers.

“For me Friday was more than just a workshop – it was a spiritual thing,” participant Jerrell aka Bxrry told Brighter Sounds. “As for the cypher with Kendrick, it’s something that was on my bucket list and something as an artist I will cherish forever.”
