In the wake of Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in Brussels, Adele offered a moving tribute to the victims.
During the final night of her six-show London residency, the pop star asked the audience to turn on their phones to light up the entirety of The O2 Arena. Adele also asked for the screen behind her to turn on the crowd to show more of the lights.
“This is ‘Make You Feel My Love,’” she said, “and this is for Brussels.”
The attacks Tuesday morning at the Brussels Zaventem Airport and the Maelbeek subway station killed at least 34 people and injured at least 187 more, according to People.
Actress Cara Delevingne was in attendance Tuesday night and commended Adele’s performance. “I cried… a lot and laughed even more!” she writes on Instagram. “A truly beautiful and inspiring show thank you @adele for being you!”
Also in London, the premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice canceled red carpet interviews, but otherwise went on as planned.
“Our hearts go out to the victims of recent terrorist attacks, their families and the communities impacted around the world,” Warner Bros. said in a statement. “Rather than yield to terror, we’ve decided to join the film’s fans and move forward with the London premiere of Batman v Superman this evening.”
