Chris Martin and Jimmy Fallon cover Bowie's 'Life on Mars?'

(NBC)

Coldplay stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, and the show has now shared a video in which frontman Chris Martin and Fallon cover David Bowie’s “Life on Mars?” Fallon, who’s something of a veteran when it comes to impersonating classic rock legends, performs Bowie’s famed vocals in a British accent to imitate Ziggy Stardust, while Martin holds down the grandiose piano part. Roots guitarist Captain Kirk Douglas briefly appears to deliver the song’s guitar solo.

Back in January, Coldplay drummer Will Champion revealed that Martin asked Bowie to guest on one of the band’s songs — but the rocker declined, reportedly saying, “It’s not a very good song, is it?” That didn’t stop Martin busting out a portable keyboard to pay homage to Bowie with a rendition of “Heroes” during a February appearance on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden.

Stars ranging from Lorde to Aurora have recently covered “Life on Mars?” Check out Martin and Fallon’s version of the song below.
