Harrison Ford to auction Han Solo's The Force Awakens jacket for charity

Han Solo may be a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, but lucky fans still have the opportunity to make a real piece of the cynical space smuggler their very own.

Harrison Ford has donated the iconic leather jacket he wore in The Force Awakens to an auction benefitting epilepsy research, education, and patient service. The cause is a personal one for Ford, whose daughter has epilepsy, and proceeds from the auction will benefit Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES) and the NYU Langone Medical Center.

“I’ve been very impressed with the work NYU and the FACES team have done in the field of epilepsy research, and I hope this jacket will provide some means to further that exploration,” Ford said in a statement. “This is a cause that’s near and dear to me, and unlike the cynical Han Solo, I’ve got a good feeling about this.”

Bidding is now open and will continue through April 11 at 6 p.m. ET on IfOnly.com.

“We are thrilled and honored to be supporting such an incredible cause by featuring a piece of cinematic history,” added Trevor Traina, IfOnly CEO. “We’ve been lucky to support hundreds of causes, but this one is even more significant as it is so personal to Harrison.”

The action listing, which currently has a minimum bid of $18,000, can be found here
