We all wondered how Sesame Street might look after moving to HBO, but nobody expected to be seeing Bert and Ernie rap about “pulling out their straps to lay them busters down.” Thanks to a YouTube video mashing up Sesame Street scenes with the Warren G and Nate Dogg song “Regulate,” that outlandish concept is a reality.

In the video, Bert channels Warren G and Ernie takes the part of the late Nate Dogg. Although Sesame Street has always been shown to be a warm and friendly thoroughfare, it’s transformed into a shady and dangerous back alley as Bert is mugged and Ernie shoots his friend’s assailants.

The mash-up is the latest from the YouTube account isthishowyougoviral, who has made a number of Muppets perform hip-hop classics in his previous videos. Similar mash-ups from the account include the Muppets singing the Beastie Boys’ “So What’cha Want” and Sesame Street characters performing Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s “Tha Crossroads.”
