Sara Bareilles gave an impromptu concert at Waitress preview

When upcoming Broadway musical Waitress got held up during a preview Wednesday, its composer and lyricist Sara Bareilles stepped in to serve the audience a couple of songs.

During Act 1, an issue with one of the set pieces caused the musical to be delayed for about half an hour. Luckily for the audience, Bareilles was waiting in the wings to save the day. Although Bareilles has many hits of her own, the crowd at New York’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre didn’t hear “Brave” or “King of Anything,” but instead one of the numbers cut from the show and a Disney favorite.

Bareilles performed an uptempo diddy called “Down at the Diner,” which she wrote for Waitress but wound up being cut. She then went on to endear the audience with a silly, interactive rendition of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. Check out both performances below.
