Paul Rudd and Selena Gomez’s new movie will slide into your Netflix queues right after summer begins.
The streaming service announced Friday that The Fundamentals of Caring will premiere June 24. It will also have a theatrical run, making it eligible for awards.
The original film — directed, written, and produced by Rob Burnett — tracks a retired writer named Ben (Rudd), who changes careers to become a caregiver. His first client is Trevor (Craig Roberts), a vulgar 18-year-old with muscular dystrophy. They decide to embark on a spontaneous road trip, building a friendship and meeting a colorful crew along the way.
The adaptation of Jonathan Evison’s novel of the same name debuted at January’s Sundance Film Festival. Netflix bought the film before the festival for a reported $7 million.
