Former Nickelodeon star Alex Wolff, 18, will take on a more serious role when he stars as the younger of the two Boston Marathon Bombers – Dzhokhar Tsarnaev – in an upcoming film about the attacks, PEOPLE confirms.
The movie, Patriots Day, will also star Themo Melikidze, Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, and Kevin Bacon.
The 2013 attack killed 3 people and injured more than 250 others.
In April of 2015, Tsarnaev was convicted of 30 federal counts and sentenced to death two months later.
Tsarnaev’s brother and second bombing second, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed in a shootout with police following the incident.
Patriots Day will open in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles on December 21.
Wolff is the younger brother of Paper Towns actor Nat Wolff. The pair make music together and co-starred in three seasons of Nickelodeon’s The Naked Brothers Band.
