Britney Spears’ reputation precedes her — and so does her entourage, according to fellow artist Iggy Azalea.
During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Australian rapper recounted the surreal experience of having Spears over for lunch one day. Before the “Work Bitch” singer showed up, she sent an advance team.
“She’s very famous, Britney Spears, and she didn’t know me,” Azalea said. “We had done the collaboration for [the 2015 single] ‘Pretty Girls,’ but we hadn’t actually met before, so I invited her to my house for lunch and this was her first time coming over. Everybody always thinks I’m this crazy wild child …. So she sent her guys to make sure it was all kosher at my house.”
After joking that Spears’ personnel taste-tested food and rifled through cabinets, Azalea said they actually “just came and walked around” and made sure no one was “doing anything crazy.”
Even so, both DeGeneres and Azalea were able to appreciate the power play. The latter admitted, “Man, I thought I was successful but I really haven’t made it.”
