Brace yourself for a hard-to-swallow dose of reality: Meryl Streep is not perfect. The actress admitted as much when she discussed her role in the 1981 movie The French Lieutenant’s Woman on The Graham Norton Show.
Streep was 32 when the film hit theaters, and she says she’s still not fully pleased with her performance. “I’m giving myself an out, but part of it was, the structure of it was sort of artificial because I was the actress playing The French Lieutenant’s Woman,” she said. “At the same time I was an American actress playing a British woman.”
