Julia Roberts is an persuasive saleswoman, but you may want to think twice about taking her recommendations for a certain maternal-themed holiday.
Such are the lessons to be gleaned from a preview clip of the actress’ appearance on Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Because Roberts portrays a Home Shopping Network host in the upcoming film Mother’s Day, DeGeneres invites her to play a game of “Pitch, Please,” in which Roberts has to hawk a product that’s hidden to her but visible to everyone else.
While unknowingly peddling a collection of kinky toys — including a blindfold, two pairs of handcuffs, and a multi-tailed whip — Roberts ad-libs, “I think everyone should have one of these. It is versatile, it is hypo-allergenic, it comes in a variety of sizes.”
With a mischievous DeGeneres looking on, Roberts adds a helpful reminder: “And Mother’s Day is around the corner.”
Needless to say, the final revelation isn’t quite what she had in mind.
