The Monkees announced recently that they’ll return May 27 with Good Times!, their first studio album since 1996’s Justus. Now they’ve shared “She Makes Me Laugh,” a breezy initial offering penned by Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo.

“I’m super stoked to be writing a song for the Monkees,” Cuomo said. “I’ve always identified with their musical aesthetic — the chord changes and melodies.” Cuomo is just one of the impressive stable of songwriters that contribute to Good Times!, which also includes Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Oasis’ Noel Gallagher. Beyond the new tracks, Good Times! boasts songs recorded in the ’60s written by the likes of Carole King and Neil Diamond, who penned the group’s classic “I’m a Believer.”

Along with a tour featuring original band members Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork that kicks off in May, Good Times! commemorates the band’s 50th anniversary.
