This reworking of the 1969 erotic thriller La Piscine beautifully explores the difficulties of communication. Aging rock star Marianne Lane (Tilda Swinton), muted by vocal surgery, is dealing with Harry (Ralph Fiennes), a former flame. The two find themselves on an awkward Italian vacation with Marianne’s current lover (Matthias Schoenarts) and Harry’s daughter (Dakota Johnson), leading to electric chemistry among the quartet and an ending that leaves a mark.
