The Property Brothers try to make Broadway dreams come true in spoof

(The Scott Brothers)

Jonathan and Drew Scott, better known as the stars of HGTV’s Property Brothers, have interests beyond renovating homes. They want to make music. And now they want to star in musicals — sort of.

The brothers shared a comedic video of their attempts to take on Broadway, after their pushy agent convinces them to move to New York City and try. Delusions of grandeur are quickly extinguished after one is victimized by a bird and subsequently run over by a cab.

Oh, the auditions do a lot of damage to their dreams, too: Neither sings well — at least not here. They’re so bad, the usually silent Teller of the magic duo Penn & Teller speaks up to say, “Well that sucked,” after the twins tried on Les Misérables. Christian Borle and former Hamilton actor Brian d’Arcy James aren’t into their take on Something Rotten either.

When they almost give up, Gilbert Gottfried encourages them to write their own musical — Bros on Broadway — and comedian J. B. Smoove trains them as best he can. It’s as good a chance as ever for them to not throw away their shot.
