Legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog may have taught himself the trade, but now he’s giving everyone the chance to learn from him.

Online education platform MasterClass announced that Herzog will teach an online class on feature and documentary filmmaking, where the various lessons will include storytelling, cinematography, interview techniques, and how to work with actors.

“Ultimately, my own goal is to be a good soldier of cinema and if I can inspire one or two of you out there, to become a good soldier, then I have done everything I should do here,” the acclaimed director of over 70 films said.

MasterClass, which seeks to make it possible for people anywhere in the world to learn from masters of their respective craft, has also hosted classes with high-profile instructors including Christina Aguilera, Usher, James Patterson, and Kevin Spacey.

“You spend way too much time in the film school, it costs way too much money,” Herzog says in the video below, where he also discusses what to expect and even gives a few free tips. “You can learn the essentials of filmmaking on your own within two weeks.”

Pre-registration for the course, which costs $90, is available now on the MasterClass website
