Zac Efron on his Neighbors 2 dance scene: 'That was the major injury to my ego'

(Chuck Zlotnick)

Zac Efron gets to show off his physique in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising… not he was excited about the prospect.

In a key scene in the film, Efron’s character, Teddy, does a sexy striptease dance during a tailgate party to distract the women of Kappa Nu (the sorority that moves next door to Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne’s Radner family). “That was the major injury to my ego,” Efron told EW senior writer Sara Vilkomerson during a recent SiriusXM town hall on EW Radio (ch. 105).

As Efron explained, the scene in question was not necessarily mapped out beforehand. “I had a quiet freak out and then called a friend of mine who was one of the choreographers on Hairspray,” Efron said. The friend in question arrived soon after, and the pair went to work on the routine.

“We went for two hours in from of a mirror and he showed me, I guess, some Magic Mike-esque moves. Some poor man’s Magic Mike-esque moves,” Efron said.

Watch Efron talk about the scene above; Neighbors 2 is out Friday.
