Gina Rodriguez is a Golden Globe winning actress … and now officially a fairy godmother.
Earlier this year, Jessica Casanova, a fan from Buffalo, New York, tweeted at the Jane the Virgin star saying she would love to wear her Golden Globes dress to her prom. Rodriguez responded that she didn’t own the dress that Casanova was requesting, but she did have the black Badgley Mischka gown she wore to the Globes in 2015 when she won best actress in a comedy series.
After some fun back and forth, Rodriguez assured she would make this happen. With prom season in full swing, Casanova finally got to show off her Hollywood dress.

Rodriguez’s good gestures didn’t end there, as she paid for some alterations to the dress and even sent along a personal video, according to the Associated Press. In it she tells Casanova, “I love you, I’m so proud of you. I’m so excited for you. Dance like no one’s watching, have the time of your life. Enjoy every single moment. Make smart decisions and let loose, girl. You look beautiful.”
Casanova has since sent back the dress to Rodriguez, who appears to have her sights set on passing it along to more girls. Back in January, another fan made such a suggestion, “Can we start a Sisterhood of the Traveling Gina Golden Globes Dress,” the user tweeted. Rodriguez was all in for the idea, replying, “I just melted. I swear I was just talking about this in the makeup/hair trailer on set.”
