The Marseille drama shall continue, as Netflix’s first French series will return for a second season.

The news was shared via the series’ Twitter account Monday. Posted in French, the message reads, “The fight is not over. #MarseilleNetflix Season 2, coming soon.”

As of Monday afternoon, it was not yet clear which cast members — including lead Gérard Depardieu (Life of Pi, The Man in the Iron Mask) and co-star Benoît Magimel (The Piano Teacher, Little White Lies) — were returning for the sophomore season.

The series, which Netflix premiered in May, tells the story of Depardieu’s Robert Taro, Marseille’s current mayor, who is at odds with his successor, Magimel’s Lucas Barrés.

Tele-Loisirs, a French TV magazine, was first to report the renewal news.

The first season of Marseille is available to stream on Netflix.
