Michael Bay casts 'Britain’s loneliest dog' in Transformers: The Last Knight

(ILM)

Michael Bay is hard at work rounding out the cast for next year’s Transformers: The Last Knight. So far, Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel are both confirmed to return, and an actual knight — Sir Anthony Hopkins — has also signed on to join The Last Knight. But as Bay recently revealed on Twitter, the cast of Transformers 5 isn’t made up of just humans and alien robots. There’s also a canine cast member.

Last month, The Mirror dubbed a dog named Freya “Britain’s loneliest dog,” writing that the 6-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross has been passed over for adoption by more than 18,000 shelter visitors over six years. Freya, who suffers from epilepsy, has been in shelters for most of her life, and when Bay read Freya’s story, he decided he had found his newest star.

“Found this in the news last week in the UK. We gave the Loneliest Dog, a role in Transformers,” Bay wrote on Twitter. “Freya, has epilepsy and has been in a shelter her whole 6 year life. We are also going to find her a home. … If not she will come to my house. Welcome to the cast Freya!”
