In his 2006 novel Cell, Stephen King put the problem of patchy network service into perspective with a tale about phone-users being transformed into homicidal maniacs. And a new, King-coscripted adaptation does not stray from that concept, judging from a new, exclusive clip.

Directed by Tod Williams (The Door in the Floor, Paranormal Activity 2), Cell stars Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack, who appeared together in another King adaptation, 2007’s haunted hotel room yarn 1408.
