Samuel L. Jackson is a multi-dimensional actor equally capable of delivering a line like, “I have had it with these motherf—ing snakes on this motherf—ing plane,” as he is saying, “The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.” This inspired Stephen Colbert to invite Jackson for a round of Big Questions with Even Bigger Questions. As they lay on picnic blankets beneath the night sky, Colbert asked Jackson some of those questions that sometimes feel too big to ask.

“Samuel L. Jackson, do you think God could make a rock so big even He couldn’t lift it?” Colbert asked.

“‘Course,” Jackson said. “That’s where Australia came from.”

Jackson asked Colbert which celebrity he would most like to be stranded on a desert island with; in true G.K. Chesterton fashion, Colbert replied, “I guess whichever celebrity is most shaped like a boat.” Later, Colbert asked Jackson which part he would most like to be remembered for.

“My d—,” Jackson replied. “But I’ll settle for Mace Windu.”
