Ghostbusters recently partnered with Lyft to offer Ecto-1 rides — and now, the film is making its mark on Snapchat.
Ghostbusters-themed Snapchat dual-lens features are now available for the first time. Specifically, the front camera on a smartphone will be able to “bust” ghosts and the rear camera can “slime.” Music from the movie will play as users “choose between wearing a proton pack and becoming a genuine Ghostbuster or getting doused with green slime by a playful apparition,” according to a press release.
“Whether it’s dog ears or flower crowns, face swapping or alien eyes, Snapchat’s popular portfolio of lenses are highly engaging pieces of content that fans truly love,” Elias Plishner, Executive Vice President of Digital Marketing for Sony Pictures, said in the release. “We are very excited to be the first-ever partner to introduce this new dual-lens technology to the market. The filters are fun and creative extensions of Ghostbusters and we think Snapchatters will have a great time using them.”
Directed by Paul Feig, Ghostbusters arrives more than 30 years after the 1984 classic and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. Catch the supernatural comedy in theaters on July 15, and get a glimpse at its Snapchat lenses below.
