In Wakefield, Bryan Cranston plays a successful suburban family man who decides to run away from his wife and daughters… to the attic.
The film, adapted from the short story by E.L. Doctorow, sees Cranston’s character hiding in the attic of his carriage house garage, surviving by scavenging at night, and secretly observing the lives of his wife (Jennifer Garner), children, and neighbors.
EW is exclusively debuting a new image from the film featuring Garner and Cranston’s characters before the latter performs his vanishing act.
Wakefield is helmed by writer-director Robin Swicord, who previously earned an Oscar nomination for her screenplay for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The film, which also stars Jason O’Mara and Beverly D’Angelo, was screened at the Telluride Film Festival last weekend. It makes its international premiere on Sept. 13 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
