Minnesota Vikings honor Prince with a very purple halftime show

Prince tributes haven’t been in short supply since the icon’s unexpected death in April at age 57. Madonna, Beyoncé, and Adele have each honored him—and this weekend, Prince’s hometown NFL team, the Minnesota Vikings, have as well.

Sunday evening, as the team broke in their brand new stadium, they devoted their halftime show to The Purple One, who was a longtime fan. The Minnesota Orchestra and gospel group the Steeles performed “Purple Rain” to a crowd drenched in lighting of Prince’s favorite hue.
