Nick Offerman performs The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

In a perfect meeting of personalities, Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) has performed a new recording of Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the classic novel of a mischievous young boy named Tom and his best friend, Huck Finn.

“Being paid to perform such a gratifying activity as reading Mark Twain aloud felt powerfully akin to Tom Sawyer hoodwinking other boys into paying him for the privilege of whitewashing a fence,” Offerman said in a release. “Let’s keep that between us.”

EW is thrilled to reveal this exclusive clip of Offerman lending a Ron Swanson-y air to this beloved tale, below. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer hits headphones Tuesday, Sept. 20, but it’s available to pre-order now at audible.com/tomsawyer.
