Andy Samberg: Bill Clinton is Lonely Island's 'dream collaboration'

(TBS)

The Lonely Island have collaborated with everyone from Michael Bolton to Kendrick Lamar — but there’s one saxophone-playing gentleman the group still haven’t had a chance to work with: former president Bill Clinton.

Appearing on Conan Monday night, Andy Samberg told host Conan O’Brien about how Lonely Island decide when it’s time to reunite for another project. “We’re always looking for the dream collaboration, because we got so much of that at SNL,” Samberg said, “and the one we’ve really been after forever is Bill Clinton on sax.”

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star then revealed he had a chance to ask Clinton about working together. The two were recently at the same charity event, but Samberg was too nervous to ask him when they were introduced. All he could get out was “Hey, Mr. President” and a weird noise.

“You’re a very funny man,” Clinton said, according to Samberg.

While on Conan, Samberg, who stars in the new animated movie Storks, also told a story about working with Kelsey Grammer on the movie, which included some amusing visual aids because, as he says, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” (Cue picture of a dictionary.)
