The premise of Son of Zorn is pretty out there, but so was the show’s cast as they tried to describe the new Fox comedy.
During an interview with EW, the Son of Zorn cast had the difficult task of describing their show, which is quite a mouthful to explain, considering it involves an animated warrior returning to Earth from his home planet of Zephyria. Tim Meadows, who play Zorn’s (Jason Sudeikis) romantic rival Craig, jokingly says the show’s goal is to manipulate the audience.
“Manipulation, which is what we want to do with your minds,” he said, laughing. “We want to manipulate your funny bone. Come on let us manipulate it. Come on baby, let me manipulate your funny bone.”
The series follows Zorn as he returns after years away to reconnect with his son Alan (Johnny Pemberton), who we find out has a lot in common with his estranged father, and his ex-wife Edie (Cheryl Hines), or ex-‘bae,’ as Meadows explained to Hines.
Hines asked, “What is a bae?” Meadows, her character’s current ‘bae,’ filled her in: “That’s like slang for baby, like you’re my babe, you’re my girlfriend.”
Now up to date on the hip lingo, Hines exclaimed, “And I’m Zorn’s ex-bae.”
Son of Zorn airs Sundays on Fox at 8:30 p.m. ET. Find out more in the video above.
