Samantha Bee to Stephen Colbert: 'I want the election to be over so badly'

Samantha Bee may relish in eviscerating Donald Trump through comedic monologues on Comedy Central’s Full Frontal, but she desperately wants the election to be done already.

“I want it to be over so badly,” she confessed to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show Friday night. “I want to live my life. I want America to be happy again.”

The former Daily Show correspondent called the election a “buffet of wonderful things to draw upon to make a comedy show,” but recalled how nervous she was for the first presidential debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton. “We had terrible anxiety in our offices all day. We were all very pale, we were all very drawn, we were kind of shivering. It was terrible,” she said.

Unfortunately for Queen Bee, it’s not over yet. With the debate between vice presidential hopefuls Mike Pence and Tim Kaine coming up, she has her fingers crossed for a banjo war.

“I feel like Donald Trump has said that Mike Pence will be his defacto president,” she said. “While he’s busy making America great, Mike’s gonna be taking care of all the policy and all that other bulls–t nobody cares about.” She added of the Oct. 4 VP debate, “Maybe they’ll have a banjo duel. I don’t know how it’s gonna go.”
