Idina Menzel on Frozen: Tinker Bell would be Elsa's girlfriend

In May, Frozen fans launched an online campaign asking the producers of the movie to make Elsa (Idina Menzel) a lesbian in the sequel. Now, the animated film’s stars, Kristen Bell and Menzel, are sounding off on Elsa’s sexuality.

The two women dropped by The Tyler Oakley Show for a special Frozen-themed episode, and the enthusiastic host asked both Bell and Menzel whether or not Elsa was a lesbian. Both of them had very diplomatic responses.

“Whatever Elsa wants to do is up to her and it’s up to us to support her,” said the Veronica Mars alum, who voiced Anna, Elsa’s sister, in Frozen.

“I cannot confirm or deny,” said Menzel in a separate sit-down with Oakley. “I think in Frozen she was young and so she’s still figuring stuff out.”

Oakley also asked who Elsa’s girlfriend would be if she was gay, and Menzel said Tinker Bell.

During their appearances, Bell and Menzel also spoke about Frozen 2 — there’s nothing new to report, unfortunately — and played a game that tested their knowledge of the voices behind famous animated characters.
