Can’t a promiscuous former first daughter catch a break?

As Hayes (Hayley Atwell) stumbles out of her bedroom the morning after spending a night with a stranger, she’s greeted by a judgmental Jackson (Mean Girls‘ Daniel Franzese), her brother, who reminds her to be a little more careful with her late-night arrangements going forward. After all, she’s now “golden with the media,” as he puts it, thanks to her new gig at the Conviction Integrity Unit.

“You really should thank Wallace,” he says in the exclusive clip above, urging her to make good with her professional rival, played by Eddie Cahill.

“That’s one way of looking at it,” she replies, rushing out the door. In other words, gratitude toward Wallace is never going to happen.

Conviction airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
