Lucy (Abigail Spencer) may have more in common with Flynn (Goran Visnjic) than it seems.
In the exclusive clip above from tonight’s episode of Timeless — in which Lucy must contend with whether she’s willing to let Abraham Lincoln die —Flynn corners Lucy to warn her that she’ll eventually be on his side in the future, so she might as well “accept it and stop trying to interfere.”
“It’s war, I lost my whole family,” he says, while giving her another hint about what “Rittenhouse” is and how the name fits into the grand, time-spanning conspiracy. “Rittenhouse isn’t a him, it’s a they, and that’s why I’m here, to right some wrongs,” Flynn argues. “I’m not trying to destroy America, I’m trying to save it.”
Of course, Lucy doesn’t see it this way. After losing her sister to the butterfly effect caused by their actions with the Hindenburg explosion in the premiere, she can’t see any benefit to what Flynn is carrying out.
The episode was just as mind-boggling to capture behind the scenes. According to production designer John Marcynuk and EP Eric Kripke, every adventure requires whole new sets and period costumes. In fact, to re-create Ford’s Theatre for the second episode, Marcynuk’s team tried to find a building in Vancouver that could imitate the infamous location.

And when they couldn’t, they went ahead and built their own. “What’s even more insane is later I got the email saying, ‘So we can tear down Ford’s Theatre, right?’” Kripke recalls. “It’s just amazing to me we’re going to this much trouble for a single episode.”
Timeless airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
