Lucy, you got some celebratin’ to do!
Saturday marks the 65th anniversary of the debut of I Love Lucy starring TV’s favorite redhead, Lucille Ball.
The comedy series, which also starred her then-husband Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley, premiered Oct. 15, 1951 on CBS, running until May 6, 1957. For six seasons and 181 episodes, the titular Lucy created iconic and hilarious moments as she refused to stick to her “housewife” label, dreaming of a chance to perform at husband Ricky Ricardo’s Cuban nightclub, the Tropicana. Whether finding a way to tell her husband she’s pregnant, working a chocolate factory conveyor belt with her best friend Ethel, or delivering the Vitameatavegamin commercial while tipsy, Lucy always made humor the focus.
Twitter reminisced Saturday over the trailblazing comedian and her groundbreaking series with memories, pictures, videos, and, of course, GIFs. The gamut of facial expressions and physical gags Ball was known for are all present and accounted for, providing a timeline of her historic talent. Check out the best of the bunch below.
