Legion gets new teaser, sets release date

David Haller is on the edge of sanity, but that only clouds how strong the mutant is.

A new teaser from FX’s upcoming Marvel series Legion — from Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley — shows Haller (Dan Stevens) seeking help and struggling with his schizophrenia. One man sums up Haller’s predicament in an ominous manner: “He believes he’s mentally ill, but he may be the most powerful mutant we’ve ever encountered.”

David’s friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) wasn’t particularly optimistic about his chances with a presumably clandestine government on his tail. “They’re coming, and they’re going to kill you,” she smiles.

David is a son of X-Men honcho Charles Xavier, but FX President John Landgraf says there won’t be a crossover with the movie franchise. “The series Legion takes place in a parallel universe in which the U.S. government is in the early days of being aware that something called mutants exist, but the public does not,” he said in January. “I wouldn’t foresee characters moving back and forth because they really are parallel universes.”

See the teaser above. Legion, also starring Jean Smart, Katie Aselton, and Bill Irwin, lands on FX in February 2017.
