The Rock, Lin-Manuel Miranda star in phone-crushing, no-texting PSA

(@TheRock via Twitter)

Dwayne Johnson and Lin-Manuel Miranda teamed up for a PSA about texting during movies, and they are really raising the stakes: If you text during Moana, The Rock will personally break your phone with his bare hands, as he demonstrates with Miranda’s device.

The video was made for the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, which has a strict no talking, no texting policy — and plenty of celebrities to back that rule up. The phone-crushing strategy is definitely convincing, but it’s too bad the world was deprived of Miranda’s anti-texting rap.

It’s unclear why anyone would dream of texting during Moana which Johnson headlines along with Auli’i Cravalho — instead of soaking in every minute of Disney’s new animated movie, but watch the full PSA below just in case you need a reminder. The film opens on Nov. 23.
