Dan Abrams wants you to join him for live police patrols

The ABC News legal affairs anchor is hosting a new A&E show called 'Live PD'

(A&E)

Dan Abrams wants to take you for a wild ride.

The chief legal affairs anchor for ABC News is now hosting a show for A&E called Live PD, which takes cameras on police patrols in six different American cities. Think of NFL Red Zone — except this one follows cops going after the bad guys.

In preparation for the live shows, producers will use dash cams, fixed rig, and handheld cameras to capture urban and rural police forces from states including Oklahoma, Arizona, Florida, Connecticut, and South Carolina. Back in a studio, Abrams and two Dallas detectives will guide viewers through the night, giving insight to what audiences are seeing in real time. As you can hear in the above teaser clip, the producers really don’t know what’s actually going to happen. Gulp.

Listen to Abrams explain why the live show is more relevant than ever:

Live PD, which debuted Oct. 28, airs Fridays from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on A&E.
