Fans of NBC’s Community know Jim Rash as the geekily flamboyant Dean Pelton. Steven Soderbergh's 'Side Effects' planned for early 2013 release

Open Road Films and Annapurna Pictures announced Wednesday that Steven Soderbergh’s psychological thriller Side Effects is set to begin shooting in April on track for an early 2013 release. Annapurna Pictures will finance and produce the film with Open Road Films handling the U.S. distribution.

For this week’s cover, photographer Sam Jones re-created the golden age of Hollywood on the Warner Bros. lot with old-time music and period outfits for subjects George Clooney and Viola Davis. Clooney was in high spirits on the set, joking with the faux-paparazzi crew and accepting an impromptu dance lesson from Jones’ mother, Charle. ”George and Viola were great,” says EW photo editor Richard Maltz. ”They both seemed to have fun pretending to walk down the red carpet.”

Amazon Publishing to release James Franco novel

In a move that should surprise no one, James Franco is set to release his first novel, courtesy of the ever-expanding Amazon Publishing. The book, tentatively titled Actors Anonymous will reportedly be based – loosely – on the life of the actor/artist/writer/director/producer/host/perpetual student/clothing-optional magazine cover boy.
