John Carpenter remembers Janet Leigh
When I went to the movies growing up, Janet Leigh was a leading lady who always impressed and amazed me. After I made Halloween, I had the chance to work with name actors on The Fog, and I thought of her immediately. To her great credit, she was different from some actors I’d worked with because she was classically trained in the studio system. That experience came in handy in one sequence where she had to cry. We had to do that scene over and over, and Janet could turn the tears on and off every time the camera rolled. It was extraordinary to watch.
