In dog-eat-dog Hollywood, the newest It pooch is a five-pound Ubermutt with a curiously comical expression. Mr. Winkle hit it big when his two-month-old website (www.mrwinkle.com), initially set up to sell a calendar, became a word-of-mouth phenom from California to Croatia. (In October alone, the site received some 2 million hits.) Photographer Lara Jo Regan, the site’s creator (and Mr. Winkle’s owner), has booked the canine on CNN and on CBS’s The Early Show, among others, and she’s in talks about a Mr. Winkle cartoon TV series and a line of stuffed toys.
