Brad PittIt was just the latest in a series of unfortunate events for Jim Carrey. The star of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events was one of 1,300 people who had to evacuate London's luxurious Claridge's Hotel when a kitchen fire broke out Thursday morning, People.com reports. Also forced to flee were such guests as Mick Jagger, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon. Press junket interviews scheduled at the hotel for Lemony Snicket and Pitt and Damon's Ocean's Twelve had to be scrapped. According to AP, there were no injuries.
The fire hit close to home for Carrey, whose film is about three kids who've lost their parents in a house fire. ''The movie's all about fire and disaster and so I get up for the junket today and suddenly my house is burning down, and I'm on the balcony like a damsel screaming with a very high pitched voice,'' Carrey told Reuters. ''No one rescued me, no one came, I had to find my own way out.'' Still, Carrey noted the karmic appropriateness of the fire: ''I think it's a very good sign.''
