BAD NEWS BARED CBS fires the news producer who interrupted the climactic final five minutes of an episode of CSI: NY to air a special report announcing Yasser Arafat's death. Ironically, the official cause of Arafat's passing isn't known at the time of the report, enraging viewers who now have two unsolved deaths to think about.

RAP SMEAR Dr. Dre gets punched moments before he receives an honor at the Vibe Awards. The attacker, Jimmy ''James'' Johnson (whose lawyer denies he has ties to Dre rival Suge Knight), is then allegedly stabbed by rapper Young Buck (of the Dre-friendly G-Unit), who's later charged with assault and attempted murder. The incident is reminiscent of the legendary Robert Klein pistol-whipping during the 1987 Cable-ACE Awards. Damn those Fraggle Rockers!
