The Bachelorette Twenty-eight-year-old Jen Schefft (pictured, left), bouncing back from her broken engagement to Bachelor Andrew Firestone (did he tire of her?), gets to pick and choose from 25 guys who — if luck is with her — will be taller and cuter. For the first time, the series is set in New York City, which sounds like a good idea unless you've actually dated there. (ABC, 9-11 p.m.; regular time period, 9-10 p.m.)

Wed., Jan. 12
Queer Eye for the Straight Girl On this new series, women get their groove back, thanks not to the Fab 5 but to the four Gal Pals, including the first female Queer Eye, Honey Labrador. Hmm. Doesn't that sound like a drag name? (Bravo, 10-11 p.m.)

Fri., Jan. 14
Jonny Zero Actors with names like Franky G, GQ, and Tawny Cypress star in this drama about a handsome young ex-con who draws on his outlaw experience to solve crimes while working in a cool nightclub and trying to resist the FBI's attempts to make him go undercover. Sounds like 21 Jump the Shark Street. (Fox, 9-10 p.m.)

Sun., Jan. 16
The Golden Globe Awards On Hollywood's funnest night, big nominees like Jamie Foxx, Sideways, and Desperate Housewives will go for the globe, and Robin Williams will doubtless go over the top when he accepts his lifetime achievement award. (NBC, 8-11 p.m.)

Mon., Jan. 17
Supernanny On this adaptation of a British series, nanny Jo Frost visits real families and teaches them the value of consistency, communication, and consequences in child rearing. Maybe she should give a time-out to Fox for ripping the show off with Nanny 911. (ABC, 10-11 p.m.)

Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson Ken Burns (The Civil War) presents the tragic story of the first African American world heavyweight boxing champion. (PBS, 9-11 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 18, 9-11 p.m.)

Tues., Jan. 18
American Idol The Series That Eats Midseason is back with a two-hour premiere that shows this year's open auditions, which took place in seven locations across the country. See if you can spot the next winner, or the next William Hung. (Fox, 8-10 p.m., and Wed., Jan 19, 8-9 p.m.; regular time periods through Feb. 16, Tuesdays, 8-9 p.m.; Wednesdays, 9-10 p.m.)

Wed., Jan. 19
Point Pleasant In this new series Christina (Elisabeth Harnois) is rescued from drowning and brought to the small seaside community of Point Pleasant, where she attempts to learn the identity of her parents. They happen to be a local woman and a mysteriously powerful out-of-towner. Could it be...Satan? (Fox, 9-10 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 20, 9-10 p.m.; regular time period, Thursday, 9-10 p.m.)

Thurs., Jan. 20
The Apprentice In the third season (have there really been only two so far?), a ''book-smart'' team competes with a ''street-smart'' one, under the watchful eye of the self-promotion-smart Donald Trump. (NBC, 8-10 p.m.; regular time period, 9-10 p.m.)

Sun., Jan. 23
Numb3rs In this drama from the filmmaking brothers Ridley and Tony Scott, an FBI agent (Rob Morrow of ''Northern Exposure'') recruits his mathematically gifted brother (David Krumholtz of ''The Lyon's Den'') to help him solve crimes. If you loved word problems (''If Company A has a book value of $25 million, and Suspect X is embezzling $50,000 a day, how long does it take till...''), this could b3 int3r3sting. (CBS, 10-11 p.m.; regular time period, Fridays, 10-11 p.m.)

Wed., Jan. 26
The Simple Life 3: Interns Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie take on corporate America, and everyone loses. (Fox, 8-9 p.m.; regular time period Wednesdays, 8:30-9 p.m.)
