What good is sleeping alone in your room? Fortunately for Liza Minnelli, she wasn't entirely alone; a quick-thinking bodyguard was nearby. People.com reports that the man called emergency services when the 58-year-old singer-actress apparently fell out of bed and hit her head early Monday morning. The Oscar winner was taken to New York Hospital, People reports, though neither spokespersons for the hospital nor reps for Minnelli have commented on her condition.
''She was sleeping and she rolled out of bed,'' a New York Police Department source told People. ''She hit her head. Her bodyguard got nervous and he called 911. He said he couldn't get her up. She wasn't bleeding. She was on the floor.''
It was another Minnelli bodyguard who made the news last month. In November, bodyguard and chauffeur M'Hammed Soumayah, who worked for Minnelli from 1994 through this past August, filed a $100 million lawsuit against his former boss for battery, assault, and breach of contract, alleging that she beat him and forced him to have sex with her in order to keep his job. Minnelli countersued him for at least $250,000, claiming breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty.
