The Triple Threat Award goes to...

Jamie Foxx

FOR Ray, Collateral, and Redemption

WHY? Remember when Foxx was best known for playing Wanda the Ugly Girl on In Living Color and starring in movies like Booty Call? Hardly seems like the same guy who's won universal praise for his Method turn as Ray Charles (Foxx blocked out his vision with opaque contact lenses and played the piano parts himself). Of course, it's also hard to believe that the actor who disappeared so completely into the role of the soul legend is also the guy who played the quick-thinking cabbie in Collateral, or the performer who played reformed street gang leader Stan ''Tookie'' Williams in the FX cable movie Redemption. Whether or not Foxx pulls off a hat trick at the Globes, the versatility he showed in 2004 means he'll get to keep surprising us for years to come.

(Golden Globe nominations: Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy [Ray], Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture [Collateral], Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries, or a Motion Picture Made for Television [Redemption])
