The Patience Is a Virtue, Grasshopper Award goes to...

David Carradine

FOR Kill Bill — Vol. 2

WHY? Carradine earned three previous Golden Globes nominations — the last one 19 years ago for his supporting role in the miniseries North and South. Since then, he's made about a hundred Z-grade thrillers and action movies, but professional career rehabilitator Quentin Tarantino has transformed the 66-year-old once again into a serious thespian. Carradine's portrayal of killer Bill, layered with lethal violence and astonishing tenderness, may be his richest role since he played fugitive warrior and Buddhist monk Kwai Chang Caine on the landmark martial-arts/western show Kung Fu three decades ago. As Master Kan might have told his young pupil Caine on that series, everything comes full circle, grasshopper.
